Who is female TRT for?

Women with persistent low libido, low energy or motivation that hasn't lifted on HRT alone, and whose bloods support a trial of testosterone. Treatment is only offered when symptoms and bloods both point to it.

Bloods are repeated at three months, then at least annually, alongside a symptom review. We adjust to stay within the female physiological range and stop if there isn't a clear benefit.

Q: How is it prescribed in the UK?

Testosterone for women is prescribed privately, off-licence, in line with British Menopause Society guidance, usually as a daily topical gel at a small fraction of a male dose.
